AuthorSure Version 0.9 has been released today to address an issue with AuthorSure 0.8 which affected users using the author box method who had a large number of pages where they did not want to show the author box.
The new version has the ability to disable the author box on all pages (as opposed to posts) with a single click.
AuthorSure still gives you ability to determine whether or not to show the author box on a page by page basis.
So, for example, if you know you do NOT want the author box on most pages but there is the odd page where you do want to show the author box then there is a checkbox “show the author box on this page” on the Edit page screen where you can make the adjustment.
Similarly, if you want the author box on most pages but there is the odd page where you do want NOT to show the author box then there is a checkbox “hide the author box on this page” on the Edit page screen where you can make the adjustment. I see this being used for ‘standard’ pages that you do not want to index in the SERPs such as the privacy statement, terms and conditions, earnings disclaimers, etc.
My rationale to show the author box on pages by default is to ensure that your face appears in the search results for pages as well as posts. Many SEOs recommend turning posts into pages when they become very popular. I had originally expected that only Privacy, T&Cs, etc would end up not having the author box. But this is not the case for more ‘corporate’ sites.
Many business websites have a number of static pages for each of their products and services and they do not want to show an author box on these pages. The new “Hide On Posts” checkbox means that this can now be done with a single click.
